Current career development

Since completing a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (CTEFL) I have gained practical experience in China.  I’ve spent 18 months at a privately run school in Guizhou Province and I’m currently teaching at Yunnan Agricultural University in Kunming, Yunnan province.  I now wish to become a full-time student learning Mandarin Chinese for a minimum of 1 year.

Transferable skills

Management Responsible for co-ordinating 108 senior and Junior ratings onboard and aircraft carrier.  Responsible for manpower allocation and publication of detailed project plans.
Organisation Directly responsible to the commanding officer for the day-to-day running of a sub-department consisting of 9 key operations personnel.  This included training, welfare, and discipline.  Maintained close liaison and co-operation with other departments to attain crucial operational objectives in both peace and wartime environments.
Teamwork Teamwork has been a key feature of my career.  This has also entailed taking on a leadership role on many occasions:  fire fighting in SE London; organised and lead minor expeditions through Algiers, Spain, and the Appalachians.
Training After successful completion of a Training Design course I was appointed to the School of Maritime Operations to carry out job analysis, produce training specifications, and design and produce documentation and source material for the training of RN officers and ratings.
